A.A. PREAMBLE©
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who
share their experience, strength and hope with each other that
they may solve their common problem and help others to recover
from alcoholism.There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership;
we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with
any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution; does
not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor
opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and
help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
4. My name is...
Welcome to the Misfits meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. We meet here every day at 12PM ET, including weekends and
holidays. The first Sunday of the month is a speaker meeting, other Sundays are 12-step meetings.
Tuesdays are an early step
meeting, focusing on the first three steps. Also on Tuesdays at 10:45AM ET we have a women’s book study using the same
meeting link, reading both AA and non-AA approved literature.
This is an Open Meeting; all are welcome.
Our meetings are meant to be all-inclusive; never exclusive or forbidding to anyone. We
want them to be open to all people. In compliance with our First Tradition, our common welfare should come first; personal
recovery depends upon AA unity. Please do not use words that are divisive or profanity.
Please stay muted until called on to
speak, and raise your hand to speak. Please be mindful of how many participants we have in the meeting so that everyone will
have the opportunity to share. If there is enough time after everyone who wants to has shared, you are welcome to raise your
hand again.
Our website is 494aa.org. You can find what you need there as far as recovery literature. If anyone needs meeting verification
they were at the meeting, put your first and last name and your email address in the chat box and stay until the end of the
meeting.
Show your video to get you into the meeting. Once we see who you are you can turn your video off. No video, no meeting. AA
responsibility declaration: I am responsible when anyone, anywhere reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA to always be
there and for that I am responsible.
Are there any newcomers to this meeting where this is the first AA meeting you have attended anytime anywhere?
Are there any newcomers in their first 30 days of sobriety who would like to be recognized?
Is there anyone attending this meeting for the first time who would like to be recognized?
Are there any AA related announcements?
5. Read How It Works & other AA literature; Daily Reflections, 24 Hrs. A Day, As Bill Sees It, Walk in Dry Places, etc.
6. Ask for AA related topic or pick your own. Only one topic per meeting. Either ask for volunteers to share or pick your own.
7. End meeting.
8. Does anyone have a benchmark of sobriety they would like recognized?
9. Please mention; A.A.'s Seventh Tradition states: “Every A.A. group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside
contributions.” to donate please visit our website 494aa.org. Remind them of the 12th Tradition:
“I have a right to say I was here, I
don’t have a right to say you were here, what you hear here stays here.”
10. Close with the Lord’s prayer, prayer of your choice, or ask if someone would like to close with a prayer of their choice.
